Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Clips need Accessibility permission?

Clips simulates the ⌘V keyboard shortcut to paste items on your behalf. macOS requires Accessibility access for apps to generate keyboard events. The permission is used only for paste simulation and nothing else.

My clipboard isn't being captured from a specific app

Check Preferences › Ignored Apps. If the app is listed there, remove it. Some password managers also actively suppress clipboard monitoring by other apps—this is expected behavior.

How do I change the global hotkey?

Open Preferences › General and click the shortcut field next to "Paste shortcut" to record a new key combination.

How do I clear my clipboard history?

Open Preferences › History and delete entries individually, or quit the app and delete its container from ~/Library/Application Support/Clips.

Clips doesn't launch at login

Go to Preferences › General and toggle Launch at login. macOS may ask for confirmation the first time.
